Same-day dental crowns
Same-day crowns use in-office milling to design and place a crown in a single visit, with no temporary and no second appointment. Dr. Monzer Shakally explains how they compare to lab-made crowns in the video below.

It is a crown designed and made right in the office, so you can often leave with the final crown in one visit instead of the usual two appointments and a temporary.
A machine, often a CEREC unit, mills your crown from a block of ceramic based on a digital scan of your tooth, then fires it in a small furnace, all while you wait.
Most people are. It works well for a single crown. For a bridge or several teeth in a row, a lab-made crown is usually the better choice.
Plan on a longer first visit than a traditional crown, since you wait while the crown is milled and fired. Your numbness may wear off during the wait, so we sometimes re-numb before checking the fit.
I am honest with patients that lab-made crowns still tend to have an edge in fit and appearance. Same-day crowns are convenient and good, but for the most demanding cases I often prefer a lab crown.
Usually not. Most offices charge the same for same-day and lab-made crowns. We are happy to walk through the cost for your specific tooth.
