John's treatment journey

The right pace for the foundation he had

John originally planned to treat only his upper teeth. After reviewing the condition of his full mouth and discussing his goals, the plan grew to include his lower arch as well. Dr. Monzer Shakally completed the treatment at Southern Smiles without referring parts of the case to outside providers.

Five implants were placed to support the upper full-arch restoration. Because John's bone quality did not provide the conditions needed for an immediate fixed temporary, Dr. Shakally chose not to rush that step. John wore a removable temporary denture for six months while the implants integrated.

Once healing was complete, the final fixed upper teeth were delivered. The lower arch was restored with a combination of implants and crowns based on the needs of the individual teeth.

Why not a traditional denture?

A removable denture was one of the options discussed. John wanted a fixed solution that would give him more confidence in daily life. The temporary denture served an important purpose during healing, but it was not his final goal.

The final upper restoration

Zirconia over a custom titanium framework

The finished upper bridge combines lifelike zirconia teeth and gums with a continuous titanium framework. The framework contains the five implant connections and forms the screw-retained foundation underneath the visible restoration.

The outcome

Six months made the final moment mean even more

John was ecstatic when he saw the result. He loved the appearance of his new smile, and after spending six months in a traditional removable denture, receiving his fixed teeth carried even more meaning.

Every implant case is different. Implant number, healing time, temporary teeth, and final materials depend on bone support, health, bite, and treatment goals.
