Answers from Dr. Shakally on candidacy, the process, timeline, and what to expect.

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums, usually from plaque building up when flossing and brushing fall behind. It is the earliest, reversible stage of gum disease.

On its own it is mild, but left alone it can progress to periodontitis, which is more serious and not fully reversible. Catching it at the gingivitis stage is ideal.

A professional cleaning does most of the work, sometimes with extra help like a laser, paired with better brushing and flossing at home.

If it is truly still gingivitis, you often see improvement quickly, within days to a couple of weeks of a cleaning and better home care.

Right away if your gums look red, puffy, or bleed, or if you notice bad breath. We will confirm it is still gingivitis and treat it before it advances.
