Founder & Dentist, DDS
I'm the proud founder and owner of Southern Smiles. I was born and raised in Syria and came to the United States as a refugee at 17. I landed in Iowa, which became home for over a decade while I pursued my dream of becoming a dentist, earning my degree at the University of Iowa. After graduation, my wife and I moved to Phoenix, where I practiced under the mentorship of experienced dentists before opening Southern Smiles in March 2024. We started from scratch, just me, my assistant, and zero patients. Today more than half of our new patients come through word of mouth, and we are proud of the trust we have earned. What I love most about dentistry is being part of my patients' lives as they grow, sometimes across three generations of the same family.

Hi my name is Gloria! I enjoy helping patients feel welcomed and assisting with scheduling appointments as well as ensuring each visit is a positive experience. I love to spend time with my nephew and furbabies :) I like to go out and enjoy life going on runs is a very liked hobby of mine !
Scheduling Coordinator
I'm here to help you schedule your appointment and insure your time is respected. With my Hispanic background and fluency in Spanish, I love being able to connect with and support our Spanish-speaking patients. When I'm not at the office, you can find me outdoors with my family, hiking, horseback riding, and spending time with my three-year-old who keeps life fun and busy.
Lead Dental Assistant / Specialist Liason
I was born and raised right here in Arizona, where I had the joy of raising my two amazing sons, and now I'm a proud grandmother. Outside of work I have a deep love for animals, especially my dogs and birds, and I enjoy relaxing in my garden whenever I can. Dentistry has been my lifelong career and passion, and nothing brings me more joy than helping others feel confident in their smiles.

Hi, my name is Lesley. I'm here to answer all of your questions regarding your treatment and cost. I graduated from UEI College in 2021 and have loved being part of the dental field ever since. Outside of work, I'm a dedicated mom and all about family, personal growth, and always moving forward.
Dental Assistant/ Lab Liaison
I'm a proud Mexican American, born and raised in Arizona. I graduated from the Arizona School of Dental Assisting in 2022 and became a certified dental assistant. I also hold certifications in Autologous Blood Concentrates, Phlebotomy with PRP, and Radiation Health and Safety. With over three years of experience, I'm passionate about helping patients feel comfortable, supported, and confident in their smiles. Outside the office, I enjoy time with my family and fur baby, trying new restaurants, and taking the occasional vacation to recharge.
New Patient Scheduling Coordinator
Hi, I'm Evelis, a medical doctor from Honduras working virtually alongside Dr. Monzer Shakally to support patient care and clinical operations. When I'm off the clock, you'll usually find me deep into a good book, watching a movie, or goofing around with my two dogs.
